A motion pushed by south Africa’s biggest opposition party the democratic alliance to pass a vote of no confidence on the president Jacob Zuma was defeated by parliament yesterday with on 214 votes against 126. While facing opposition even from some members of his own party, the ANC, he still retains a strong loyalty among ANC politicians and most party members.
